General Information

Parke.w pictures May 09I’ve always loved going to school. I’m still excited to get a new notebook filled with blank pages — and possibilities. And the smell of a freshly-opened box of crayons never fails to make me happy.

Luckily for me, I’m a children’s author, so I get to visit schools all the time! I’m also a former elementary school counselor, so I’m right at home in the classroom –as well as the library, the auditorium, and the gym. (As long as I don’t have to do push-ups!)

“Thanks so much for taking the time to visit us this week. Everyone had a great time, and you were fabulous. Hope to see you again in the future.” —Marissa Manring, Librarian, Gordon Parks Elementary, Kansas City, MO

“A big thank you for helping us kick off our Young Authors Program. I overheard the junior-high kids talking in the hallways about their story ideas. And the connection the kindergarten students made with you was truly amazing. You are a wonderful presenter to both small groups and whole groups.” —Rhonda Goldman, Interventionist, Young Authors Sponsor, Wood River-Hartford School District, Wood River, IL
